back to news listingWorld Skills Ireland was held at the RDS from September 25th to 27th.
This event brought together enterprise, industry, education, training, and government to enhance the visibility and importance of skills and apprenticeships, preparing today’s talent for tomorrow's careers. More than 20,000 secondary school students attended.
Five Craft Butchery Apprentices participated in a competition:
- Johnathan Feehan, Geraghty’s Butchers, Mountbellew, Galway
- Kevin Kelly, Flemming’s SuperValu, Monaghan
- Kelly Mairs, Joe McGee Butchers, Letterkenny, Donegal
- Alex Molloy, Fenelon's Butchers, Stillorgan, Dublin
- Leon Moore, Kerrigan’s Butchers, Malahide, Dublin
During three action-packed days, the apprentices showcased their skills by cutting and manufacturing meat products while also creating an impressive retail display.
The apprentices that took part are a credit to their employers, mentors and trainers. We wish them every success in their careers.
Congratulations to Leon Moore from Kerrigan’s Butchers for winning the competition!
