FETAC made its bi-annual visit in May to assess the internal procedures in ACBI and to verify the work of our four fully qualified assessors.
These assessors are one of the key differences between the NCBS and the 'old' way of learning on the job. They ensure a good standard throughout the country and adherence to the learning objectives.
They are on the road nationally assessing over 110 candidates in our National Certificate in Butchering.
FETAC was very pleased with the progress that both the candidates and the centre here at ACBI was making. We hope that by the second visit in November that we will have the first accredited butchers receiving their awards.
We receive nearly two new applications a week for people to sign up to our programme. If you would like to sign up or have someone in your shop that would be interested in the programme please contact ACBI for an application. There are no criteria for the programme other than wanting to become a skilled craft butcher!
