There are three categories in this competition;

  • Ready to Cook
  •
  • Ready to Eat
  •
  • Ready to Heat.

Each produces National Category winners which are then subjected to a further round of judging to select the Supreme Champion and other places.

The event is also a product evaluation exercise and the marks awarded decide whether an entry gets a gold or silver award. Thus a runner up could be either gold or silver, depending on the marks, and gold could be awarded for entries falling outside the top three products where the standard is sufficiently high.

Each entrant submits a portion of cooked and uncooked product (except in the 'Ready to Eat' category.

The event is judged by members of the Irish Guild of Food Writers.

For more information on the competition please contact us.
